FRIDAY 6th MARCH LEFT GATWICK FOR PORTUGAL.

 

 

Arrived Friday afternoon and was taken to the Portimao Race Circuit,
where the Michelin Team was there to greet us.

In between lunch we was shown our first glimpse of the track and the machines we would be using.
(CBR100RR, R1, GSXR1000, R6, CBR600RR, RC8 and MV AGUSTA, all 2009 models)

That evening over dinner with Michelin guest Randy Mamola we was treated to the itinerary for the next day
...........and of course NO hard drinking that evening as we would be up early for testing at the track.

Early Saturday at the track we were greeted once more by the Michelin representatives,
Randy Mamola and the Michelin Endurance Race Team.

Once the safety briefing had been completed we were split into two groups.
Our first session would be on the Michelin Power One Street set to standard road pressures.

They warmed up quickly and gave a very comfortable feel with superb handling.
The track was very demanding and at this time of day was at 27 degrees.

After all the sessions we were briefed on the compound, construction, design and purpose of the tyres that we had used.
Session 1 = Power One Street. Sessions 2 & 3 = Power One Compounded. Session 4 = Power One Slicks.

Sporting hard race suspension settings and the compounded Power One's the bikes
tested gave all the information that the Power One Street's gave but with more grip
allowing me to turn in quicker with the increased confidence they gave.

Power One Slicks (16.5 Rims ONLY) ...........SIMPLY OUTSTANDING.
